Our Story, Mission, and Values

Educating. Advocating. Empowering.

Who We Are

Stewards of the Temple, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals, caregivers, veterans, and communities through health literacy, healthcare advocacy, and values-based healthcare decision education. We provide educational workshops, practical advocacy resources, and community outreach that equip people to navigate healthcare with confidence, communicate effectively, and make informed decisions that reflect their values and goals. By fostering knowledge, preparedness, and compassionate support, we help strengthen individuals, families, and communities while promoting dignity, collaboration, and active participation throughout the healthcare journey.

Why We Exist

Every day, individuals and families are faced with important healthcare decisions that can feel overwhelming. Medical information can be complex, healthcare systems difficult to navigate, and many people are unsure what questions to ask or how to confidently participate in decisions affecting their health and the wellbeing of those they love. Caregivers often shoulder tremendous responsibilities, veterans may face unique challenges as they transition between healthcare systems, and many individuals quietly carry invisible burdens that shape their healthcare experiences.

Stewards of the Temple, Inc. was founded to help bridge the gap between healthcare information and healthcare understanding. We believe that education is the foundation of effective advocacy and that informed individuals are better prepared to communicate with healthcare professionals, support loved ones, and make decisions that reflect their personal values, goals, and circumstances. Through education, practical resources, and community engagement, we strive to restore confidence, strengthen voices, and promote informed participation in healthcare.

Our vision extends beyond individual healthcare encounters. We are committed to building healthier, more connected communities where individuals, caregivers, veterans, and families are equipped with the knowledge, confidence, and support to navigate healthcare together. By fostering health literacy, advocacy, and values-based decision-making, we help create a culture where every person is empowered to participate in their healthcare journey with dignity, purpose, and hope.
